Joseph J. O'Connell, of Somerville and San Francisco, passed away on Wednesday September 20, 2017. He was 62 years of age.

Joseph was the beloved son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Madden) O'Connell. Dear brother of Mary Murphy and her husband Marty, Kevin O'Connell and his wife Diann and the late Dorothy O'Connell, Kathleen O'Connell, Bobby O'Connell and Ginny O'Connell Casey and her surviving husband Bob Casey. Nephew of Ed Galvin. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are kindly invited to attend a Funeral Mass Celebrating Joseph's Eternal Life in St. Clement Church 71 Warner St, Medford Saturday September 30th 2017 at 10am. Interment Oak Grove Cemetery Medford.

Joe did a great job at the Cambridge Hospital, all of us in the lab really appreciated him. I will miss talking football with him, his knowledge of the game was awesome. Rest easy buddy.

march of 2014 Joe and I went to New York City , he mentioned he was going and I pretty much invited myself , we took the train got to the hotel , course there was only one room because he expected to go alone , well theres usually couches he said , ok I say . well he walks in the room first and could hardly speak and turned as white as a sheet when there was only one bed and no couch lol , and this bed let me tell u was probably a double if that . Well we made the best of it because we were friends . I had a wonderful time , Joe showed me around New York we saw a show and its a great memory I will have forever . Rest in peace my friend I love You , Lisa
