Domenick Zanni Jr. of Reading passed away on Monday, December 11, 2017 at Winchester Hospital. He was 87 years of age.

Born on July 28, 1930 in Reading, Domenick was a lifelong resident of Reading. He is the loving son of the late Domenick Zanni and Marie (Fulgoni) Zanni. Domenick was a warm and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed.

Domenick was a partner in his family owned business Domenick Zanni Sons, Inc. He had a lifelong passion for thoroughbred horses. He was an owner and trainer and was in the winner's circle many times. Domenick proudly defended our freedom by serving in the United States Marine Corps. His true love was for his family. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Domenick is the beloved husband of the late Nancy J. (Buckler) Zanni. He is the devoted father of Gregory Zanni and his wife Linda, Christopher Zanni and his wife Lisa, Steven Zanni and his wife Wendy and the late Jeffrey Zanni. The cherished grandfather of Gregory Zanni and his wife Rachael, Christopher Zanni and his wife Jennifer and Dana, Amanda, Shane and Dillan Zanni, Domenick is the adoring great grandfather of Elle, Grace & Rosie. He is the dear brother of Dorothy Zanni, Joseph Zanni and his wife Sylvia, William Zanni, Marie Gagnon and her husband Raynor and Edward Zanni and his wife Maria. Domenick is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service Celebrating Domenick's Eternal Life will be held on Thursday at 12pm in the Doherty – Barile Family Funeral Home,11 Linden St. READING. Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories with the Family prior to the Service, beginning at 9am in the Funeral Home. Interment is private at the request of the Family.

We are sorry to hear of Dom's passing. We always considered him to be a huge part of our family. I can still picture his red pick-up truck parked in our driveway, with the boys all riding in the back, holding on to who knows what! Dom meant so much to our parents, and to all of the Small's. May you all be comforted by the many wonderful memories you have of him.

I wanted to express condolences for the loss of your father, father-in-law and
grandfather. Domenick loved those roles and was proud of his Family Circle, which he named the street where you lived.
I must share, per my last conversations with him and despite his illness, "Uncle
Dom" continued to have a way of drawing others in a disarming and even charming manner. Via long distance telephone, he made me laugh and per the same conversation said some lovely and poignant things about his wife, Nancy
(and my father).
It reminded me of times when he would come by on Sundays in his truck and he and my Dad would sit hunkered over a bit at the kitchen table, talking low and
earnestly about some important matter, then I would hear Dom loudly expressing, "You would not believe it, Bob!" with boisterous and unabashed laughter following. My Dad loved those visits and my last phone visit was reminiscent of those times.
Domenic was a bigger than life type of person. You all looked after him well in his time of need. May he rest in peace.

One of my fondest memories of my Uncle Dom was when he and my aunt received my bouquet at my wedding. They were the couple that was married the longest. His smile was from ear to ear as they danced a solo dance for their commitment together. You are both reunited now. RIP Uncle Dom- you will be missed by all of us.

To the Zanni family...sending our deepest sympathies and much love to you all during this very sad time...I'm so glad we got to spend some time with Dom during Thanksgiving...He was an adored patriarch to his children and grand children and will be greatly missed... he is now at peace with Rich and Michele Bova and boys
