Condolence & Memory Journal

Met Dave aboard USS Dyess (DD880) in 1966 as a sonar man. Made a Med Cruise and visited Rome. Had liberty in San Juan, PR. Dave hosted me and my two grandsons in Boston and he and I toured Fenway Park and touched the Green Monster. Missed Dave at the last few reunions as he was always fun to be around.

Dave was one of my closest friends on the Dyess. A real nice guy. I will miss him.

Dave and I were friends on the USS Dyess back in the 60's, and I thought about him many times over the years. Fortunately, we saw each other at a Dyess reunion several years ago in Savannah Ga. and I was amazed that after 40+ years Dave was exactly as I remembered him, and I realized why we were friends. When my wife met him she immediately understood as well. He was a tremendous person and we both send our condolences to his family and other friends.

Rest in Peace buddy.

To the Ferris Family and especially to Lisa and David,

We wish to extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences on the loss of your dear loved one. We often stopped to chat with Dave as he walked along Forest Street. He had a great love for his family, friends, and country and especially enjoyed discussing the political issues of the day. Dave was always willing to post signs on his front lawn, which was a prime location to draw attention to candidates he supported. We could count on him for his common sense and his informed opinions. We will miss his presence but know that he has gone on to a better place in heaven where he will once again see his beloved Mary Anne and will be rewarded for his love and service to his family and to his country. May Dave rest in peace.
