Such an important part of our St. Athanasius family, Claire will be missed by all who knew her.

In some ways, Claire often felt like a surrogate mother to me, and when she asked how I was, it was never a pro forma question -- she really wanted to know.I expect many of us in St. Athanasius parish felt the same way. I miss her already.

I will miss Claire Canty. It was always so wonderful to see her at the 4:00 Mass.

Claire called me her adopted sister. It is a title I will treasure forever. She left her footprints on my heart and though she will be gone from my sight, she will always live in my heart. God welcomed a new angel in His kingdom called Claire Canty.

Mike told me about his mom on one of our first dates. He proudly talked about his mother's very accomplished career at Arthur D. Little. Mike said she was "brilliant". All who knew her would agree especially me and Liam. Mike also described his mom as an excellent cook; also very true. Liam and I are especially thankful that she's passed those cooking skills down to her son. Mike's list of special times with his mom was long, including wonderful memories of summer vacations in Maine and other family trips. But most of all, Mike treasured the simple times when he would sit down with his mother over a good meal and have a lovely conversation with her. Over the years, we all shared so many special times-too many to list. Liam and I feel blessed that just a few weeks ago, we had the precious opportunity to sit down over simple meal and have a wonderful visit with both Claire and her sister. It fills our hearts with sadness that Claire (A.K.A Grandma) is no longer with us. She will never be forgotten. Annie and Liam

Dear Family,
I am very sorry to hear about Claire's passing. Please accept my sincere sympathy. Please know that I am praying for you all and sending hugs. I have known Claire since I was little. I was a member of St. Athanasius Parish while I lived in Reading for 53 yrs. I lived around the corner on Charles St.
Claire was such a sweet person.
