Virginia E. (Hamilton) Wood, 90, beloved wife of the late Raymond Wood, passed away on Saturday, July 4th at her home, with her family by her side. Born in Malden, she is the loving daughter of the late Esther (Winberg) Doucas.

Virginia grew up in Everett and was a graduate of Everett High School. She married her husband Raymond in 1952 and settled in Malden to raise their family. For many years, she worked in the business offices of the Malden Press and the Malden Trust Company. She also worked for various medical offices until her retirement. Virginia moved to Stoneham 15 years ago. She was an active parishioner at St. Patrick's Church and was a proud member of the St. Patrick's Prayer Shawl Ministry. Virginia enjoyed gardening, knitting for her friends and family and she especially loved cooking for both friends and family.

Virginia is the devoted mother of Linda W. Russell and her husband Robert. Cherished grandmother of Erin Carlson and her husband Gordon and Bryan Russell-Lowe and his wife Bethany. Loving great grandmother of Miles Carlson. Beloved daughter of the late Esther (Winberg) Doucas and loving sister of the late Barbara Rosolko. She is also the loving aunt to many nieces, nephews, and friend to many.

A Funeral Mass Celebrating Virginia's Eternal Life will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham, MA, on Thursday, July 9th, at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment will follow at Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden.

I will always remember Aunt Virginia's quick smile and great sense of humor. She and her husband Raymond were a blessing to me and my family when they helped me get an ROTC scholarship to college by helping with a congressional endorsement. Dear Linda, Bob, & family. I just learned about Virginia's passing and I wanted to extend our deepest condolences. She was such a loving and kind person, always smiling and bringing smiles to those around her. She so enjoyed cooking and baking and knitting which she shared with family and friends. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm also a member of the Shawl Ministry. I'll never forget your Mom/Grandma/ Great Grandma. She was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Always impeccably dressed; and had a smile and kind word for everyone. She'll surely be miss by all. We will remember her in prayer when the Ministry meets again.
