Message From The Family

Thank you for your support during this difficult time. Please enhance this tribute to Philip by adding your memories and photos.

Philip A. Cefalo Jr. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. He was 71 years of age.

Born on November 30, 1949 in Boston, Phil was the loving son of the late Philip A. Cefalo and Rose (Catizone) Cefalo. Phil was a warm, kind and caring son, brother, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend. He will truly be missed.

Phil was the beloved husband of Sherry (Meuse) Cefalo of 51 years. He was the devoted father of Philip A. Cefalo III and his wife Anastasia, Nicholas R. Cefalo and his wife Allison and Jeremy J. Cefalo and his girlfriend Stephanie. The cherished grandfather of Andrew, Anthony, Camden, Landen, Evan and Charlotte. Phil was the dear brother of the late Charles, Mary, Theresa, Lena and Lorraine. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

His passion for music lead him to a career as a keyboard and accordion player who sang with his bands for over 50 years. His kindness and compassion lead him to a career in the mental health field where he was an advocate for those in need. He enjoyed summers by his pool, spending time in New Jersey with his family and was a passionate Patriots and Red Sox fan. Most of all, his greatest joy was time spent with his wife Sherry and their children and grandchildren.

Funeral from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (RT 28) STONEHAM, Tuesday, June 29th at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass Celebrating Phil's Eternal Life in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St. Stoneham at 10am. There never seems to be enough time. I wish I had more conversations and get togethers. You were uniquely special in ways that words can't describe. How much you loved and cared for people showed in your words and the ability to listen to others. My mom loved you dearly. I can only hope that there is a beautiful place after this life and that you are sitting with her somewhere sharing moments, memories and laughter that only siblings can understand. RIP Uncle Philip.

Such a sad day for us all! Phil brought so much joy to all who knew him. His caring heart, very big smile, and many talents brought great pleasure to all who came into contact with him. I had such a great experience working with him for 14 years at Elm Brook Place. He taught me so much about the wonders of life, how to see people through their strengths and downplaying their shortcomings. I deeply feel for his family and all those who were fortunate enough to benefit from his loving nature!

My sincere condolences to Sherry and sons! I attended high school with Phil and he and my Dad, Mike DeMattia, played music dates together for a lot of years! I will always remember his love for music and his kindness and gentleman like ways! May he rest in eternal peace.
