Salvatore grew up in Augusta and at the age of 18, he joined the Italian Marines and traveled the world. In 1950, he settled in Barinas, Venezuela and began a long career as a construction developer. In 1960, he married his wife Rosa and they had daughters Domenica and Neli. In 1970, Salvatore and his family moved to Boston, where they had their third daughter Sandra and raised their family.
